At the Women’s Month Mfazi Zimele Seminar in Emalahleni, Mpumalanga, on Wednesday, the EFF Deputy Secretary General Poppy Mailola emphasized the need to combat gender-based violence and support survivors.
According to Mailola, challenging patriarchal norms, promoting consent education, and holding perpetrators accountable are crucial steps towards creating a more inclusive society.
EFF’s Poppy Mailola Calls for Urgent Action Against Gender-Based Violence
Mailola stressed that the responsibility of dismantling patriarchy should not fall solely on women. She urged men to actively engage as allies in this fight.
“Men must recognize their role in perpetuating patriarchal norms and work towards change by challenging toxic masculinity and fostering healthy and respectful relationships.”said Mailola
To achieve this, Mailola emphasized the importance of fostering a culture of empathy, respect, and equality. By supporting survivors and promoting consent education, individuals can contribute to dismantling patriarchy and creating a society that respects and values everyone.
