Newly appointed Metsimaholo Local Municipality MMC for Human Settlement and Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) councillor April Motaung has promised to work on formalising Mooidraai and address challenges of unfinished RDP houses in Sasolburg, Free State.
Motaung is one of the nine newly appointed MMCs of Metsimaholo municipality.

On Friday, 18 August, the African Independent Congress (AIC) councillor and newly elected Executive Mayor Jack Malindi has appointed members of the Mayoral Committee to assist him to play oversight over the administration of the municipality.
Below is the list of councillors of Metsimaholo appointed as MMCs:
“I start by heartily thanking EFF my organisation for affording me an opportunity to represent and serve residents of Metsimaholo as Member of Mayoral Committee and head of portfolio for human settlement.
“I am ready and available as people’s servant 24/7 to strategically direct and lead the human settlement by developing 100 days action based implementable programme of action an announce it within 7 days,” said Motaung.
As the new MMC, Motaung said residents of Metsimaholo can expect public participation in building solid relationships with them. He has indicated that he is willing to allow inputs on how best the portfolio on human settlement can best service them.
The ambitious councillor has also made a promise to engage a global chemicals and energy company – Sasol Limited to remove asbestos roofing that causes diseases such as lung cancer.
Amongst other services, Motaung has assured residents of Metsimaholo to allocate residential sites in Wonderfontein.
Meanwhile, in October 2021, the EFF national leader Julius Malema has encouraged residents to continue to occupy land in Mooidraai.
The party has viewed the area which has over 5 000 residential sites as its home.
