EFF and ANCYL condemns circulation of naked pictures of FS legislature speaker

By Thys Khiba – On Wednesday, the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF)Provincial Secretary Malefane Bosanku Msimanga and African National Congress Youth League (ANCYL) Regional Chairperson Edgar Legoale have condemned the ‘insensitive’ circulation of nude images of what appears to be those of the speaker of Free State legislature Zanele Sifuba. 

It is alleged that her pictures were disseminated on social media. 

“We condemn this regardless of who the victim of this cowardly, barbaric and disdainful act is. 

What has been seen, is a systematic blackmail and silencing of the victim and weaponizing of her body by the coward man by disseminating unwanted and compromising images,” said Msimanga.

The EFF in the province viewed this incident as an act of criminology and violation of human rights. 

The party said the person who is responsible for the circulation of these images should be arrested, charged and sentenced for a minimum of 15 years of jail term. 

“This can only be done by a mentally twisted and sick person who has lost sense of intimacy and respect for bodies of women deemed to be sacred by all human civility.”

Msimanga indicated that this is not only happening to high profile women, but to women and girls everywhere. He believes that this type of conduct undermines efforts and the fight against gender based violence, misogyny and femicide. 

“It happens to school girls and women where naked images are viciously circulated into cyberspace as revenge or for extortion for older women,” Msimanga said. 

The EFF has advised the victim to never submit or succumb to the incident and conduct of ‘an animalistic person’ who is without a sense of humanity. 

“We stand firm behind her and can assure her of our unconditional moral support. She is not alone; we stand with her.” 

Msimanga encouraged anyone with information about the person who is behind the circulation of these pictures to report it to the relevant law enforcement agencies. 

“He is either a brother, a son or a husband or an uncle of someone. We call on any person who may know this person, to come forward and report this savagery to the police.”

Meanwhile, the ANCYL Fezile Dabi Regional Chairperson Edgar Legoale has weighed in on the matter by condemning the incident and conduct of the responsible person.

“On daily basis women are killed and harrassed and we are quite, today the rampant of pictures and video is making rounds that of Cde Zanele the Free State Legislature Speaker and we are not rubbishing the perpetrator who is a man and entrusted by a woman to keep her secret life secret, he decided to go around sharing them and comrades wants to make fun out of it! It’s wrong and must be condemned comrades,” said Legoale.
