By Thys Khiba – The Edgar Legoale Knockout Easter Soccer Tournament is expected to host various football teams and give away R45 000 to deserving teams as they will be hosting their annual “Kasi-flavor” football tournament in Tumahole, Parys in the Free State.
The four-day tournament will be utilized as a fight against drug abuse by young people around the Ngwathe Local Municipality.
“Drugs have now become another pandemic in our day to day lives, our young brothers and sisters are losing it on a daily basis and we are seen to be doing nothing in challenging such, hence the tournament itself strike to fight for those young fellows who are losing everything including themselves in the process of being abused by this pandemic,” said Edgar Legoale Foundation Project Manager, Israel Fantisi.
The annual “Kasi-flavor” football tournament will be using “No to drugs, Yes to Sports” as their 2022 theme on the 15th till 18th April 2022 at Mandela Sports Ground (Near Boitlamo School) in Tumahole, Parys.
16 teams, who will be required to pay affiliation fee of R1 500, from across the Free State will be competing for three prizes and four awards. The 1st team will walk away with R30 000, while the second team and third team will share R15 000.
On the day of the tournament four awards will be given to the Player of the tournament, Goalkeeper-of the tournament, Top goal scorer of the tournament and Coach of the tournament.
According to Fantisi, the foundation will visit various schools in Tumahole township, spreading the message of fighting against drug abuse as a countdown to the day of the tournament.
“…we shall make sure we conscientise scholars from as early as Primary Schools about the dangers of drugs in their lives and for the betterment of their communities.”
The foundation confirmed their determination in continuing to help government and the relevant stakeholders in fighting drug abuse. They have also thanked Metsimaholo FM, Blaqsnaps Media and Central News for joining them as Media Partners to ensure that they spread the word out there.
“The Edgar Legoale Knockout is now a big brand known worldwide because of its professionalism and impact it has on livelihoods of young people from different corners of the country, which main impact we intend to always achieve is that of eradicating the high level of drug abuse in our kasi(Tumahole),” said Fantisi.
Sponsors and potential sponsors will be rewarded with a tax benefit or deduction for co-branding or becoming an official partner of the tournament.
“Our Foundation is registered as Non-profit organisation and with SARS as Section 18A Public Benefit Organization meaning Edgar Legoale Foundation is authorized by SARS to issue its donors with a Section 18A tax certificate/receipt upon request. This will allow the donor to claim their donations as a tax deduction. In this way, as a donor, you are able to assist our foundation and also obtain a tax benefit in doing so,” said Fantisi.
The foundation has announced that there are sponsorship opportunities available from Bronze to Platinum Packages. “Our sponsorship strategy is based on a ‘sponsorship tier’ system. Each tier has its own specific benefits at a specific price. The more the tier costs the more benefits the sponsor enjoys,” said Fantisi.
