Edgar Legoale, Chairperson of the Edgar Legoale Foundation, has called on parents of the matric class of 2023 to support their children as they enter tertiary levels of education.

Speaking at Yakhisizwe High School Matric Class of 2023 Awards Gala at Woodlands Country Lodge in Parys, organized by his foundation, Legoale emphasized the importance of parental involvement in their children’s academic journeys.

“Let us not forget the unfaltering support of the parents. Your involvement in your children’s many journeys will remain invaluable all the way through tertiary levels of education—please continue to be their bedrock of support,” Legoale said.

The Gala celebrated the outstanding achievement of Yakhisizwe High School, which achieved a 95.8% pass rate, surpassing all other high schools in Parys. This represents a significant increase from 94.2% in 2021 and 99% in 2022.

Yakhisizwe has seen a remarkable improvement in matric results since 2021, a testament to the dedication and hard work of the school’s leadership and educators. Principal Mr. Fongoqa and District Director Dr. Chuta were highlighted for their instrumental roles in fostering a nurturing academic environment.

Mr. Fongoqa noted the school’s journey from a history of poor results to becoming the best performing school in Tumahole, citing a personal role in the school’s turnaround and rebranding since 2014.

Bishop Moratehi Sekete delivered a keynote address, acknowledging the advancements in education and opportunities for the matric class of 2023, encouraging the students to embrace their potential for a bright future.
