In a heartfelt social media post, DJ Sbu expressed his gratitude and credited the success of Mofaya to the Most High God. He also extended his thanks to Shoprite for their support in making this milestone a reality.
Looking back on Mofaya’s journey, DJ Sbu recalled the initial challenges they faced in getting their product off the ground. The beverage industry was resistant, but they never gave up. Now, with the product finally able to reach a wider audience through these major retail chains, DJ Sbu and his team can celebrate their achievements.
Founded nine years ago, Mofaya made waves as the first and only 100% Black-owned beverage brand in South Africa. It was created by a group of eight experienced businesspeople, who collectively have 97 years of work experience. Their determination and dedication have brought them this far, and now Mofaya can proudly be enjoyed by consumers nationwide.
With Mofaya’s expansion into Shoprite and Checkers stores, more people than ever will have the opportunity to experience this unique and homegrown beverage. DJ Sbu and his team have shown that with unwavering passion and resilience, dreams can become a reality.
