Paul Mashatile, Deputy President of the Republic of South Africa
Deputy President Paul Mashatile is set to lead the Human Resource Development Council (HRDC) meeting, taking place at Sol Plaatje University in Kimberley, Northern Cape. The highly anticipated meeting is scheduled for Friday, August 18.
The HRDC is a national advisory body that brings together representatives from various sectors, including government, labor, the private sector, and civil society. Its main goal is to implement measures and programs that align with the Human Resource Development Strategy Towards 2030.

Deputy President Paul Mashatile says managing coalition governments better remains imperative in stabilising local government and improving service delivery.
Deputy President Mashatile’s leadership in strengthening the connection between provincial councils and the HRDC on the national level has been commendable. In May 2023, he spearheaded a visit to KwaZulu-Natal, evaluating the province’s progress in implementing development programs towards achieving the 2030 strategy.
During the fourth HRDC Summit, representatives of social partners signed two important social compacts, namely ‘Building foundations for a transformed economy and society’ and ‘Building skills for a transformed economy and society.’ The signing of a third compact in Kimberley is eagerly awaited.
The Deputy President’s HRDC outreach has successfully rallied all relevant partners behind the vision of investing in education, training, science, and technology. This collective effort aims to address critical skills shortages and combat unemployment.
One of the highlights of the upcoming meeting will be a presentation by the Northern Cape HRDC, which was recently relaunched and is now chaired by Premier Zamani Saul. The presentation will provide an overview of the province’s progress in building the necessary skills required for economic development.
Accompanying Deputy President Mashatile will be Cabinet Ministers, the Premier of the Northern Cape, and senior government officials. Their presence reflects the importance and commitment attached to the HRDC’s work in driving human resource development and shaping a brighter future for South Africa.
