Concern Grows as Tumahole Teenager Unathi Phantsi Remains Missing

Unathi Phantsi

Police spokesperson Sergeant Mahlomola Kareli has confirmed that 18-year-old Unathi Phantsi, from the Sesulu section in Tumahole, has been reported missing. Unathi was last seen on the morning of 31 October 2024, around 06:30, when she stepped outside wearing a green two-piece pyjama set and a cream-coloured gown. According to her grandmother, Unathi had prepared for school, but she never returned inside, marking the last time she was seen.

The search for Unathi has sparked concern within the Tumahole community, with local police urging anyone with information to come forward. This article explores the details surrounding her disappearance, the ongoing investigation, and the call for public assistance in finding Unathi.

Details of Unathi’s Disappearance

Unathi Phantsi’s grandmother, who last saw her that morning, has expressed deep worry over her sudden disappearance. Unathi, described as light-skinned with tattoos on her left arm and left foot, did not exhibit any unusual behaviour prior to leaving the house. The circumstances surrounding her disappearance remain unclear, and the family is desperate for any information that could help locate her.

According to Sergeant Kareli, a missing person file has been opened at the Tumahole Police Station, and Detective Sergeant Sophonia Photolo is leading the investigation. Authorities are working tirelessly to follow any leads, but they emphasize the importance of public cooperation in cases like this.

Police and Community Response

The Tumahole community has shown strong support for Unathi’s family, with neighbours and community leaders rallying to raise awareness about her disappearance. Flyers with her description have been distributed, and local social media platforms are actively sharing her information, hoping that someone might have seen or heard something that could aid the investigation.

Police spokesperson Sergeant Kareli has urged anyone with information to contact Detective Sergeant Photolo directly at 082 465 3140, or to use the Crime Stop line at 08600 10111. Those who prefer to remain anonymous can submit tips via the MySAPS app.
