Gqeberha – Coach Helman Mkhalele has officially announced the final 23-man squad for Bafana Bafana as they gear up for the 2024 COSAFA Cup. Scheduled to be held from 26 June to 7 July at the iconic Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium, this year’s tournament promises thrilling football action.
Bafana Bafana’s Journey in Group A
Bafana Bafana has been placed in Group A and is set to face formidable opponents including Mozambique, eSwatini, and the Zebras of Botswana. With a mix of seasoned players and budding talents, Coach Mkhalele’s squad is expected to bring fierce competition to the pitch.
Group A Teams:
- South Africa
- Mozambique
- eSwatini
- Botswana
Other Groups at the COSAFA Cup
The tournament also features other intriguing group matches. Defending champions Zambia, who have lifted the trophy a historic seven times, find themselves in Group B. They will go head-to-head with Kenya (initially place-holders), Comoros, and six-time champions Zimbabwe.

- Zimbabwe
Meanwhile, Group C brings together four other competitive teams:
- Angola
- Namibia
- Lesotho
- Seychelles
Tournament Schedule
The tussle for supremacy will begin with the pool games running from 26 June to 3 July. The semifinals are slated for 5 July, culminating in the final and third-place play-off on 7 July. Fans can look forward to almost two weeks of high-octane football action.
