American R&B star Chris Brown has sold out his Johannesburg concert, scheduled for 14 December 2024, in under two hours. Fans quickly purchased all 94,700 available tickets for the show at the iconic FNB Stadium, leaving many unable to secure a spot at one of the biggest events of the year. In response to this overwhelming demand, Brown has added a second concert date on Sunday, 15 December 2024, giving fans a second chance to experience his electrifying performance in South Africa.
Breaking Records and Shattering Expectations
The speed at which tickets sold out highlights Brown’s massive fanbase in South Africa. This marks his return to the country after nearly a decade, and the excitement has reached fever pitch. Fans have compared this record-breaking achievement to previous large-scale concerts at the FNB Stadium, such as Justin Bieber’s 2013 show, which also sold out in mere hours. However, Brown’s rapid sell-out has firmly placed him in a league of his own, generating buzz across social media platforms.
While some high-profile concerts at the same venue, such as Burna Boy’s recent event, struggled with ticket sales, Brown’s popularity was never in question. Many South Africans took to social media to express their excitement and amazement at how quickly the concert sold out, with some humorously lamenting their inability to get tickets in time.
The Addition of a Second Show
Due to the overwhelming demand, concert organizers Big Concerts have added a second show on Sunday, 15 December 2024. Tickets for this new date will go on sale on Friday, 4 October 2024, exclusively through Ticketmaster. Organizers have also warned fans to avoid purchasing tickets from unauthorized resellers like Viagogo, which are notorious for inflating prices and selling counterfeit tickets. Only digital, mobile-only tickets will be available, ensuring a secure and streamlined process for entry into the venue.
Ticket Sales and Restrictions
Each buyer is limited to purchasing up to eight tickets per person, and ticket transfers will only be allowed 30 days before the event. To further prevent ticket fraud, mobile ticket barcodes will only be issued three days before the concert. Fans are encouraged to act quickly when tickets for the second show go live, as they are expected to sell out just as fast as the first.
For safety reasons, restrictions are in place for standing tickets, which require attendees to be over the age of 16 and meet a minimum height requirement. Fans can find more information about ticket sales and event guidelines on the Big Concerts website.
