By Thys Khiba – Police in the North West – Cyferskuil have arrested and Charged a 23-year-old man for murder, perjury and defeating the ends of justice on Wednesday.
This comes after the decomposed body of a 15-year-old Karabo Monyama was discovered on Wednesday, 8 March 2023 buried in a shallow grave in the backyard of the arrested suspect.
Monyama was last seen on Sunday, 05 March 2023, at about 13:00 when she left home to watch soccer at a nearby field.
However, she never returned back home.
Before the arrest, police in Cyferskuil request the community’s assistance in locating Monyama (15), who was residing at Monageng Street, Cyferskuil, close to Makapanstad.
A search was conducted around the neighbourhood and Cyferskuil precinct without any success.
“During her disappearance, she was wearing a white crop top, green mini skirt and black Adidas sneakers. She is light in complexion with a slender body structure and black hair,” said North West police spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Amanda Funani.
He is expected to appear in the Moretele Magistrates’ Court on Friday, 10 March 2023.
