Viljoenskroon – Boniswa Dorah Maphazi’s death has come as a shock to her family, as stated by the family spokesperson, Doctor Erick Ngegwane. Boniswa passed away after a short illness.
Moqhaka Local Municipality announced that councillor Boniswa Dorah Maphazi passed away Monday night after a short illness. “Boniswa was a darling… she loved people.

Boniswa was very accommodative. She was impartial and treated everyone with the same respect. She was approachable and respectful,” said Family Spokesperson, Ngegwane.
Describing Boniswa, Ngegwane confirmed that Boniswa loved politics more than her family. According to Ngegwane, Boniswa treated politics as her first family and treated her family as her second family. Ngegwane said Boniswa had ambitions and dreams of becoming the South African President.
“Cllr Maphazi, was firstly appointed as the secretary in the office of Executive Mayor on the 24 May 2019. She was later in 2020 elected as a PR Councillor filling the vacant position..,” said Moqhaka Local Municipality Spokesperson, Dika Kheswa.
The African National Congress Youth League (ANCYL) in Fezile Dabi Region described Boniswa as a ‘powerful force’ who was able to advocate for youth and women emancipation.
“She will be remembered with a highlight of her vision that ‘Future is Female,” and standing firm as a pioneer for “Motjha-Palong” initiative which she even had it as her middle name on social media,” said ANCYL Fezile Dabi Region Spokesperson, Thabo Baleni.
Boniswa at least started to join politics in Belemond branch in 2010 and she served in the BEC’s of the ANC Youth League. And later served in the ANC in 2011.
Boniswa passed away as a member of the REC of the ANC Youth League in Fezile Dabi Region. She was a member of the SANCO and ANC Women’s League.
In addition, Boniswa was elected as part of the ANC Ward Committee for Ward 21 in Moqhaka Local Municipality in November 2011.
Her memorial service will be held on Thursday, 10 June 2021 at Tshepahalo Hall, Rammulotsi near Viljoenskroon at 13h00.
Boniswa will be laid to rest on Saturday, 12 June 2021 at Tshepahalo Hall, Rammulotsi near Viljoenskroon at 08h00 until 10h30.
