In a statement, Baloyi said, “We undertake to write a new chapter in the book of our beloved country by introducing and practicing a different kind of politics underpinned by our Ubuntu ideology, where meritocracy and stability are embedded in our norms and practices.”
Baloyi’s involvement in politics has been notable. He officially joined ActionSA in January but later resigned due to conflicts with Herman Mashaba. Prior to that, he was a member of the Democratic Alliance for 14 years before quitting in December 2022. Baloyi’s leadership as the youngest mayor of Midvaal in 2013 helped transform it into one of South Africa’s most successful municipalities.
Xiluva has already set its goals. They plan to register in all universities and Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) colleges to contest student representative elections. Additionally, they aim to collect the necessary signatures from registered voters to meet the IEC threshold and contest all provinces in 2024.
The party invites South Africans who share their beliefs to join them on a journey of self-liberation and building a country firmly anchored on the principles of Ubuntu.
They believe their support base has grown significantly since their announcement in March, suggesting that people in South Africa are eager for change and better leadership with integrity.
Xiluva will be launching its foundational documents on 19 July 2023, although the venue is yet to be confirmed. This event will provide more insight into the party’s ideologies, principles, and plans for the future.
As South Africa faces numerous challenges, including corruption, unemployment, and inequality, Xiluva offers hope for a different path forward. With its emphasis on Ubuntu and ethical leadership, the party aims to reshape the political landscape and address the issues that matter most to South Africans.
