Johannesburg – Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates and his wife, Belinda Gates announced on Twitter that they will be divorcing after sharing 27 years of marriage.
“After a great deal of thought and a lot of work on our relationship, we have made the decision to end our marriage,” in a statement posted on Twitter.
The couple have also indicated that they will continue to work together for their massive philanthropic foundation that they have build together. The foundation will be the reason why the couple will still have to work together, to continue to improve global health, combat climate change and bolster US education.
“We continue to share a belief in that mission and will continue our work together as a couple in this next phase of our lives.”
The couple have asked the public to give them space and privacy for their family as they’ll be try to familiarise themselves with their ‘new life.’
Meanwhile, Bill Gates is now the world’s fourth-richest person. His wife, Melinda Gates who married Bill in 1994, is known for speaking openly about global health and equality for women.
