Bethlehem Pastor
By Karabo Marifi
Bethlehem – Bethlehem police have launched an urgent appeal for community assistance in locating Pastor Phillip Mashudu (55) and his wife, Mrs. Elsie Matlou Mashudu (54), who have been missing since Friday, 23 August 2024. The couple left their Bethlehem home to attend a church conference in Parys, driving a white Mercedes Benz GLS with registration ALTAR FS. Pastor Mashudu was last seen wearing blue jeans, while his wife was dressed in black jeans and a black jersey.
The couple’s disappearance has raised concerns, prompting law enforcement to seek the public’s help in locating them. Warrant Officer Mmako Mophiring, the police spokesperson, urged anyone with information on the Mashudus’ whereabouts to come forward. The police are particularly interested in hearing from anyone who may have seen the couple or their vehicle on the day they went missing.
“We are appealing to anyone who might have any information that could assist in locating Pastor Phillip Mashudu and Mrs. Elsie Matlou Mashudu. Their family is deeply concerned, and we are doing everything in our power to ensure their safe return,” said Warrant Officer Mophiring.
The couple’s family reported them missing after they failed to arrive at the conference and could not be reached on their mobile phones. The situation has caused significant distress within their community, with church members and friends expressing their concerns and praying for their safe return.
Lieutenant Colonel Nel, the Bethlehem Detective Commander, is leading the investigation. He has urged anyone with information to contact him directly at 082 526 2717. Additionally, information can be provided anonymously through Crime Stop at 08600 10111 or via the My SAPS App.
