Bafana Bafana coach Hugo Broos has announced his final 23-member squad for the upcoming international friendly matches against Eswatini and Côte d’Ivoire.
These matches will serve as crucial preparation for next year’s Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) and the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.

The Bafana Bafana team will first host Eswatini on 13 October 2023, with the kick-off scheduled for 18:00. This will be followed by a challenging away game against Côte d’Ivoire, who will be hosting the next edition of the AFCON, on 17 October 2023.
As Broos continues to fine-tune his squad, these two matches hold immense importance in shaping his team for the upcoming tournaments. The coach expressed his desire to get closer to his ideal team through these games, allowing him to make the right choices for the AFCON and the FIFA World Cup qualifiers.
Unfortunately, three players from the previous games have sustained injuries and are unable to participate at present. Despite this setback, Broos remains optimistic and stated that around 80-85% of the squad is already determined for the AFCON. He also emphasized the possibility of future changes, acknowledging the dynamic nature of the game.
Broos expressed his satisfaction with the progress the team has made so far and looks forward to making the final choices for the FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Benin and Rwanda next month.
