Ba2cada Vs SAFA President
Radio personality and Chairperson of D’General FC, Nyakallo Leine, better known as Ba2cada, has lambasted the South African Football Association (SAFA) for failing to consider Bloemfontein as a regular venue for national football events. This comes after an exhilarating 3-1 win against Zimbabwe during the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier held at the Free State Stadium.

Ba2cada’s Stinging Critique of SAFA
Ba2cada did not mince his words when discussing SAFA’s track record. “People at SAFA are not doing their jobs. I just don’t understand how, for this long, no one could see that Free State can host big games anytime. They needed to see an amateur team like D’General FC bringing a respectable crowd for them to wake up and realise that it actually can work to bring Bafana Bafana to Bloem. Slow thinkers—all they know is to fight for VIP tickets and food,” said Ba2cada.
His remarks come in light of Bafana Bafana’s commendable performance before a packed 46,000-capacity Free State Stadium, a venue that last hosted the national team during the 2010 World Cup. Premier Mxolisi Dukwana expressed his contentment with the turnout and echoed Ba2cada’s sentiments regarding the suitability of Bloemfontein as a host city.
Rise of D’General FC
D’General FC, a recently established football club from Botshabelo competing in the ABC Motsepe League, has garnered significant support since its inception in 2019. The club has somewhat filled the void left by Bloemfontein Celtics, who were sold to Royal AM under Shauwn Mkhize’s ownership. The team’s growing popularity has reignited local football fervour, turning Botshabelo into a vocal advocate for more national fixtures in the region.
A Call for More Home Games in Bloemfontein
Social media has been abuzz with fans calling for Bafana Bafana to permanently host their home games at the Free State Stadium. The national team’s compelling 3-1 win over Zimbabwe, part of a series of 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers, has bolstered this campaign.
Hugo Broos’ squad demonstrated their potential with Iqraam Rayners netting the opening goal within the first minute, only for Zimbabwe’s Tawanda Chirewa to equalise shortly after. The teams remained level at 1-1 going into halftime.
The second half saw an invigorated South African squad, with substitute Thapelo Morena scoring twice, once in the 55th minute and again in the 76th, to seal the win. The electric atmosphere within the Free State Stadium played a crucial role in motivating Bafana Bafana to deliver a stellar performance.
Premier Dukwana Lauds the Support
Premier Mxolisi Dukwana hailed the outstanding show of support from the Free State residents and football enthusiasts. “There is no doubt that the Free State is the spiritual home of football and hosts some of the most passionate and patriotic supporters in the country. The atmosphere during the match demonstrated once again why the Free State remains capable of hosting such big events,” said Premier Dukwana.
He further expressed optimism that the success of nights like these will serve as a catalyst for hosting more significant international fixtures in the future.
Points and Prospects
Following the victory, Bafana Bafana is now second in Group C of the qualifying FIFA World Cup group, tied with Rwanda at seven points, only separated by goal difference. The spirited performance has elevated the team’s qualifying prospects, spurring hope among the fans and players alike.
