Popular South African radio DJ and Chairman of D’General FC, Nyakallo ‘Ba2cada’ Leine, has extended his best wishes to Mangaung United FC as they gear up for the National Playoffs. The event is set to take place at the Mxolisi Dicky Jacobs Stadium in Upington.

Mangaung United will play tomorrow at 12pm.

Ba2cada’s team, D’General FC, recently faced Mangaung United on 30 May 2024, in the provincial playoffs. Both teams are participants in the Free State ABC Motsepe League, but it was Mangaung United that emerged as the Free State champions.

“Let me take this opportunity to wish Mangaung United well in their most important games of their careers at the National Playoffs starting tomorrow,” said Ba2cada. “All teams wanted to be there, but it’s your big opportunity to go showcase your talents and represent the province with distinction. You have my support guys and wish you everything of the best. Good luck gents.”

SAFA Confirms 2023/24 ABC Motsepe League National Playoffs Draw

The South African Football Association (SAFA) confirmed the fixture for the 2023/24 ABC Motsepe League National Playoffs. The draw was held on Tuesday, 4 June 2024, at SAFA House in Nasrec, Johannesburg. The highly anticipated event will see the Northern Cape hosting the games from 17 to 23 June 2024.

The draw consists of three groups, all set to compete at the Mxolisi Dicky Jacobs Stadium in Upington. As of now, seven provinces have confirmed their representatives, with Eastern Cape and Northern Cape yet to finalise their teams due to pending cases. Despite these delays, pots have been allocated to ensure the completion of the groups.

Meanwhile, the Northern Cape provincial playoffs are scheduled for Wednesday. NC Professionals will clash with Jacksa Spears, also at the Mxolisi Dicky Jacobs Stadium, with the match kicking off at 13:00.

The Seven Teams Confirmed for National Playoffs

The teams already securing their spots for the SA third-tier national playoffs include:

  • Dondol Stars (Gauteng)
  • Njampela FC (KwaZulu-Natal)
  • FN Rangers (Western Cape)
  • Kruger United (Mpumalanga)
  • Mpheni Defenders (Limpopo)
  • Mangaung United (Free State)
  • Thames FC (North West)

The top two finalists from the National Playoffs will gain automatic promotion to the Motsepe Foundation Championship. Last season, Upington City from the Northern Cape and Orbit College from the North West earned their promotion to South Africa’s football second tier.

Dondol Stars and Mpheni Defenders are favourites this year, with both teams participating in the playoffs for the second consecutive time.

SAFA & Motsepe Foundation’s Ongoing Partnership

SAFA and the Motsepe Foundation have been partners for over 11 years, and both entities plan to continue their beneficial relationship.
