Ba2cada Speaks Out on Kaizer Chiefs: “It’s Not Funny Anymore”

Popular radio personality and DGeneral FC Chairman, Nyakallo Leine, known by his fans as Ba2cada, has expressed his concerns over the current state of Kaizer Chiefs, saying that the situation is “not funny anymore,” highlighting the distress it causes to South African football. His comments came in the wake of Chiefs’ dismal 5-1 defeat to Mamelodi Sundowns in a recent DStv Premiership match.

The loss to Sundowns, who have just clinched their seventh consecutive league title and 17th overall, adds to Kaizer Chiefs’ struggles, having only secured one win in 2024. Currently, the team occupies the eighth position on the log, with interim coach Cavin Johnson insisting the squad is not merely fighting to stay within the top eight.

In response to the unfolding crisis at Chiefs, Ba2cada took to Facebook to share his insights and offer advice on how the team could recuperate. He suggested, “If I was given an opportunity to advise, I would simply say they must lay foundation for the new coach coming. Since they have promoted a lot of young boys from their development, in these few games left, let’s give them minutes under their names so that when the new coach comes, confidence wise ba sharp.”

Ba2cada didn’t stop there; he went on to propose a potential lineup for the remaining games, focusing on integrating younger players with a few seasoned professionals. His recommended lineup includes Bruce Bvuma as the goalkeeper, complemented by a defence and midfield poised to foster young talent and experience, aiming to restore confidence within the squad.

Moreover, Ba2cada floated the idea of bringing in renowned coach Pitso Mosimane alongside a tailored recruitment of six specific players to strengthen key areas of the team. He emphasised the importance of patience and a long-term vision, suggesting a five-year plan under Mosimane’s guidance to rebuild the team’s fortunes.

“Give Coach Pitso 5 years contract. In the 1st 2 or 3 seasons they must not expect anything, but to build the team, whatever that comes will be a bonus. By the 4th season, the machine should be running by then,” Ba2cada articulated, underscoring his belief in a methodical rebuild for the club.

Ba2cada’s sentiments are echoed by former Chiefs player Junior Khanye and several soccer analysts who have criticised the club’s current approach to finding a new coach. According to Khanye, the club’s process of holding interviews is futile and suggests a more assertive stance in securing Mosimane’s expertise.

“They are not solving anything with those interviews. Why are you holding interviews as Kaizer Chiefs? Because we know people want you more than you do them mostly, the best coaches. If you are serious just simply appoint a coach and tell him to bring his technical team. Appoint Pitso Mosimane, leave Cavin Johnson, let Pitso also bring his technical team and give him a budget. A lot of players will not survive.” Said Khanye to iDiski TV.
