In a breakthrough operation, two men from North West were arrested and subsequently remanded in custody for possession of suspected stolen property. Amos Matlhodi, aged 27, and Isaac Dube, aged 19, appeared in court on Friday and are set to appear again on 4th August 2023 for legal aid.
According to Captain Aafje Botma, the Police Spokesperson, the accused were apprehended during an intelligence-driven operation conducted by the Brits Trio Task Team. The team was investigating alleged business robberies in Mmakau.
The initial arrest took place when one of the suspects was spotted at his residence in Ramogodi Village on Wednesday, 26th July 2023. A subsequent search of the suspect’s property revealed various items including cigarettes, coins, bath soaps, a welding machine, gloves, and other items. Further investigation led the team to the second suspect’s location, where similar items and a pickaxe were confiscated.
In light of this successful operation, Major General Modisagaarekwe Mosimanegape, the District Commissioner of Bojanala Platinum Sub-District 1 (Brits), commended the task team members for their exemplary work and dedication.
As this case unfolds, it serves as a reminder of the importance of intelligence-driven operations and the relentless efforts of law enforcement agencies in protecting our communities and combating crime. We trust that justice will be served, and these men will face the consequences of their alleged actions.
The court appearance scheduled for this Friday will shed further light on this case, and we eagerly await the upcoming developments.
