Just days after the assassination attempt on former US President Donald Trump, a 21-year-old man was arrested near the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee on Monday. The suspect was found armed with an AK-47 pistol and wearing a ski mask, raising red flags among Capitol Police officers and Homeland Security Investigations.
The incident unfolded on Monday, July 15, as the convention was in full swing at the Fiserv Forum. Trump was scheduled to make an appearance later that day, adding to the gravity of the situation.
Authorities were immediately suspicious of the man’s attire, which included a ski mask and a tactical bag. Upon inspection, the bag was found to contain an AK-47 pistol and a loaded magazine. The AK-47 pistol is a variant model of the infamous rifle.
Milwaukee Police reported that the arrest took place around 1 PM (local time) just a few blocks away from the convention site. It was later revealed that the suspect did not possess a valid concealed weapon permit in Wisconsin or any other state.
The Milwaukee County District Attorney’s Office is currently reviewing potential charges against the suspect, whose identity has not been disclosed.

The arrest has led to heightened security measures at the convention, with additional law enforcement officers being deployed to ensure the safety of attendees. This incident has raised concerns about the adequacy of current security protocols at such high-profile events.
