By Thys Khiba – The African National Congress Youth League (ANCYL) Fezile Dabi Region newly elected regional secretary Jackson Mthembu confirmed their support for the newly elected regional chairperson Edgar Legoale to contest the position of the ANCYL provincial secretary in the Free State province.
“The congress reaffirm its support for the ANCYL Fezile Dabi Chairperson cde Edgar Legoale to run for Provincial Secretary at its Provincial congress,” Mthembu said.
Speaking after the elections of the regional conference, Mthembu indicated that the ANCYL will continue to lobby for their members to be part of the leadership structures of the ANC at the regional and provincial congress.
“We further, reaffirm our support for Cde Tlangi Mogale for president also Secretary General Cde Joy at its upcoming national congress we shall continue to lobby for ANCYL members to occupy position of power at its Regional and Provincial congress of the ANC,” said Mthembu.

The region recently had their 8th regional conference from 30-31 August, represented by 125 voting delegates of the ANCYL branches at Partuma Lodge in Tumahole Parys at Ngwathe Local Municipality.
Members of the youth league received a political report which focused on challenges of young people, appreciation for the role played by former leaders of the region and late leaders of the youth league.
Young people in the region of Fezile Dabi under the theme of ‘Our generational mission is economic freedom in our life time,’ had a opportunity to also receive organisational and financial reports which exposed and acknowledged challenges faced by their organisation.
“We further commit to work towards the unity of ANCYL in the region. Continue to promote the motto of ANCYL ‘fight, produce, and learn.’ As the ANCYL we remain unshaken to say we want economic freedom in our life time,” said Mthembu.
Amongst other matters discussed at the conference, the youth league encouraged young people must go to school.
“Furthermore, the congress also emphasised on the fact that young people must go to school. That also there is a need for institution of higher learning within our regional boundaries.”
The ANCYL believes that young people deserve to be employed in all strategic positions.

Speaking as the newly elected regional chairperson, Legoale acknowledged challenges faced by and proposed solutions to renew and rebuild the youth league in the region.

Legoale expressed his heartfelt compassion to members of the ANCYL from national, provincial and the current elected regional executive committee.
“Since the ANCYL is on the course of Revival, Rebuilding and Repositioning the ANCYL in this region, the reality is that the region has for sometime suffered a lull which contributed negatively even on the participation of the ANCYL members in rallying the youth behind the banner of the ANC through a positive And convincing win on the electoral battlefield Since the last election periods, said Legoale.
The newly elected regional chairperson indicated that ANCYL newly elected structure have a critical role of making sure that the ANC both organizationally and in government assist the youth league to fulfill its mandate.
“A Revolutionary act that will eventuate on the ANCYL easily rallying the young people behind the banner of the ANC. This is going to be the revolutionary call to be executed by the newly elected competent ANCYL REC whilst noting that as the youth organization we haven’t achieved our generationally set mission of ECONOMIC FREEDOM IN OUR LIFE TIME,” Legoale said.
Legoale thanked the ANCYL members for their full, active and mostly robust participation in this regional conference.
