African National Congress Youth League (ANCYL) in FEZILE DABI is very much disturbed, dismayed, angry and hurt by the sad state(of affairs) today in both Ngwathe and Moqhaka, and the most saddening being the one in Ngwathe.
Firstly we want to state without any hesitation or fear, the people including those who are claiming to be comrades who burnt the house of uMama ka Cllr. Victoria and fighting their own comrades in that manner, they don’t deserve to be referred or called comrades but the lumpens and we wish to appeal with the ANC should it find some of those who are behind this ploy being members of the ANC, they must be expelled in the ANC!
Citizens in the democratic country like South Africa do have every right to strike, this we understand vividly as we are members of the community before we become the ANCYL members and its leaders, especially with the fight against any deprivation of human rights and basic needs which is water for now in both Ngwathe and through electricity in Moqhaka.
The Issue of water is a serious matter and cannot be ignored anymore, same way as load shedding and covid-19, the water issue need a serious and urgent attention from our government.
In Moqhaka we have learnt of the matter between the community’ money and a security company which seeks to run the Municipality dry with their corrup and evil act of milking that Municipality dry, we want to commend the Municipality Manager for standing bravely with community and refusing a corrupt security company to further suck the Municipality coffers dry.
Let it be known that anytime, any day and no matter what, we will forever be found on the side of the community!
We want to also without fear and or favour advise the Moqhaka Municipality to absorb the guards and stop tendering for the security work, as we feel they are paying more than they can if they absorb those guards whom we also think you might find out they are even exploited with small salaries when the big sharks of thieves in a form of the bosses to that company continue to suffocate the Municipality.
Moqhaka must also honour their commitment with Eskom, we cannot have our communities fail to get water because of Municipality decided not to honour their commitment and pay Eskom in order for the community to have both Electricity and Water!
It cannot be that the community will suffer for both very key basic needs of water and electricity at the same time, we call on the Municipality to have a proper, feasible and doable plan with immediate effect to deal with this matter.
It Is said that almost 25-30% of our water [is] being lost due to water leaks caused by failing infrastructure.” It is estimated that 70 million litres of treated, clean, drinkable water is lost daily as a result of the thousands upon thousands of leaks that characterise South Africa’s water piping system and for this reason we want to urge all our Municipalities to establish serious and hard working responsive and maintaining teams as a matter of urgency to deal with the issue of water in Ngwathe, Moqhaka and all other Municipalities in Fezile Dabi.
We understand it has been for a very long period now since our people making plea and begging for basic needs of water and electricity in the region, we are not even against the protesting people as they are also exercising their rights and without any fear, we will join them at any given time on issues affecting our daily lives and most importantly water which is life on its own in our lives.
Water and sanitation in South Africa is an ongoing crisis that needs to be addressed decisively, we know of task teams implemented to work with this matter of water and they must be hands-on, work hard and come up with solutions to this matter ones and for all.
Not only do we need to improve sanitation, but we need to ensure that our people gain access to water supplies that offer safe drinking water, fix our wastewater treatments, and educate people on the importance of water conservation and how they can reduce the impact of climate change.
We need to educate our people about these issues through roadshows, we as the young and flexible people we can even volunteer ourselves to perform these roadshows alongside the Municipality.
We are calling on the Minister of Water and Sanitation Hon. Senzo Mchunu to urgently make a turn in Fezile Dabi, the region of legends is burning and our immediate reaction should be well balanced to all the angles, stakeholders and institutions and coming up with doable solutions on this matter!
ANC in these trying times need to provide leadership, both in the region and the province in assisting its Deployees to deal with the crisis in hand and also to instil discipline where anarchy prevails.
All the ANC members who might be found to have had their hands in the matter of burning of an innocent mother to the ANC Deployee’s house, they must be expelled in the ANC, we don’t need such monsters in the ANC!
For as much as we understand our people are tired, some are disappointed on how our government is doing things BUT we cannot allow corrupt comrades to use issues of the community to fight their political battles, we condemn with the strongest harsh the barbaric act by some of the community members who went and burn the house of the parents to Executive Mayor of Ngwathe Hon. Victoria De Beer, we see this cheap politicking stunt as nothing but anarchy which must be met with anarchy!
We are of the view this act is politically motivated, as we are towards the Regional Conference of the ANC and some people still cannot accept a fair process of contesting in the ANC because they are used to being appointed in positions of power instead of being elected and comrade Victoria is contesting Regional Chairperson position which without iota of doubt we rally 100% behind it!
Comrade Victoria must not be deterred, must never be intimidated by those devil worshippers, loose canons, myopic and barbaric political condoms but forge ahead in bringing up the clean Municipality and eradicating the corruption that was infested within that Municipality.
We call on law enforcement agencies to work with highest speed possible in making sure the culprits are going for a high jump and full might of law to take its course!
We want to warn the protesting people especially young ones not to allow being used in the disguise of fighting for genuine issues affecting the community, while comrades are fighting their own political battles through our vulnerable community members and with the silly act of burning the home of Hon. Victoria it shows the desperation by those who are against her and their fear to face her.
The Issue of all the services to be delivered to the community need to be prioritized, in the instance where community members need to fight for basic services and needs, it means the situation is dire and hence we have requested an urgent meeting today with the Minister of Water and Sanitation.
We need to come up with solutions instead of forever be seen complaining, we need to urge all the community members, relevant stakeholders and government institutions to come together and work as a team in fighting not only issue of water but all the services need to be delivered to our people.
As young people we must be in the forefront and encourage the young qualified Engineers in coming up with lasting solutions to the issue of water in Fezile Dabi commrades, it has been a problem and it’s not even Mayor’s fault or it is the first time our communities suffering with water but we must show that we are now here and we are the ones we have been waiting for!
To all young people of the ANC, this is the beginning of war against ANC and we need to be combat ready to defend ANC and its leaders!!!
We believe in the ANC that lives and the ANC that leads, it needs to show seriousness in dealing with anarchy on this matter…
All the ANC Youth League members need to be on the ground in assisting ANC Deployees in their respective wards, be on the lookout and reporting of ill discipline but most importantly work hand in glove with ANC and its deployees to educate our communities about the issues affecting the water crisis and the need for those who can afford to pay for their services and also those who can’t afford to register for indigent.
We are behind the ANC deployees in both those Municipalities of Ngwathe and Moqhaka but we are also on the side of the communities when it comes to the issue of poor service delivery! Not yet uhuru!
