ANCYL Fezile Dabi endorses Ntombela as ANC provincial chairperson

By Thys Khiba – The African National Congress Youth League (ANCYL) confirmed their political support and campaign for Sefora Ntombela as the incoming ANC provincial chairperson of Free State and Victoria DE Beer-Mthombeni as the ANC regional chairperson of Fezile Dabi Region.

This comes after their first meeting of the 8th regional executive committee which was held on the 03 September in Frankfort, Mafube Municipality. 

“This decision was not taken out of excitement but based on the work these comrades has put in favor of the ANC as an organisation, they are rooted in the ANC and their credentials speaks volume and they are doing their best in government as ANC Deployees to date,” regional chairperson Edgar Legoale said.

Ntombela is the member of the provincial legislature and governing party, who is serving the 6th Premier of Free State.She has served as the MEC for Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs and Human Settlement, as well as Social Development.

The league in the region told media that they are choosing leaders who will represent them in the region based ongenerational mix. 

“…we need generational mix, and hence we think though the ANC need young ones to lead it, we still need the experience of those who came before us to show us the way,” said Legoale.

At least seven names of young leaders were listed as a representation of the ANCYL for the regional conference of the party in Fezile Dabi. 

The current regional chairperson of the youth league, Edgar Legoale appears as the second preferred candidate on the list. Names of Seshego Mogorosi, Alleta Dlamini, NthabisengTlhobelo, Babiky Dewet, Cynthia Motloung and Lisebo Tabaalso forms part of the recommended list by the ANCYL. 

“We are not going to negotiate or ask permission from anyone when it comes to the inclusion of young people in the ANC structures, this should be the idea which we are prepared to die for as this REC,” Legoale said.

While addressing the media, the region indicated that they have appointed Babiki Dewet as their spokesperson for the region and Nkosana Xaba as their regional organiser. 

Meanwhile, the newly elected regional structure endorsed Tlangi Mogale and Joy Maimela as the chosen candidates for the position of the national ANCYL President and Secretary General.

The youth league has called on their ANC regional chairperson candidate, DE Beer-Mthombeni as the Executive Mayor of Ngwathe Local Municipality to appoint or extend contracts of temporary municipal workers.

“We are also calling for Ngwathe Local Municipality leadership led by Executive Mayor Victoria De Beer-Mthombeni to find amicable solution on the issue of temporary workers, they came and we saw their dedication in assisting the process of service delivery.”
