The African National Congress Youth League (ANCYL) made history on Saturday, 1 July 2023, by electing a new leadership at its national conference in Johannesburg that is expected to bring a fresh wave of enthusiasm and innovative ideas to the organization.
The highly-anticipated 26th ANC Youth League National Congress resulted in the election of six new officials who will steer the organization for the next term.
Leading the ANCYL as the newly elected President is Collen Malatji, a charismatic and dynamic young leader who has been involved in grassroots activism for years.
Collen Maine stood as the last President of the ANC Youth League. However, the ANC National Executive Committee took a bold step, choosing to disband this structure.
Phumzile Mgcina has been elected as the Deputy President.
Mntuwoxolo Ngudle has been appointed as the Secretary General, responsible for managing the organizational and administrative aspects of the ANCYL.
Tsakani Shiviti and Olga Seate have been elected as the 1st and 2nd Deputy Secretaries General respectively. Their roles will involve supporting Ngudle in his duties and ensuring the smooth running of ANCYL operations.
Zwelo Masilela has been entrusted with the position of Treasurer General, overseeing the finances of the organization. With his financial acumen and dedication to transparency, Masilela is expected to ensure that the ANCYL’s resources are used efficiently and effectively.
The 26th ANC Youth League National Congress marks a new chapter in the history of the organization.
ANC President Cyril Ramaphosa is expected to deliver closing remarks later at the congress.
