ANCWL in Free State decides to disband its branches

By Thys Khiba – African National Congress Women’s League (ANCWL) Free State Provincial Task Team (PTT) has decided to disband all ANCWL branches which have lapsed in July 2015 to appoint WTT to renew and revive itself. 

Most branches in the province have a lapsed mandate from July 2015, and the meeting resolved to disband all ANCWL branches which have outlived their mandates,” ANCWL Free State said in a statement.

In a special PTT meeting held on the 22 August, the league appointed Kelebogile Thulo as the Provincial Coordinator of the ANCWL YWD. 

According to the league, the YWD is expected to mobilise young women to join the governing party women’s league and to give them a platform to raise their political consciousness. 

“As per the decision of the ANCWL NTT, the YWD will be part of the Organising and Campaign Sub-committee.” 

At least five regions of the province will now have appointed regional coordinators of the ANCWL YWD, namely Dorris Masooane, Khensani Dlamini, Dimakatso Gwili, Sibeko Tshobatsi and Nompendulo Mduzwana. 

Fezile Dabi region will be led by Masooane, while Dlamini is expected to led Lejweleputswa and Gwili leading Mangaungregion. Tshobatsi is appointed for Thabo Mofutsanyana region, with Mduzwana leading Xhariep region. 

The PTT discussed the state of its party, renewal project and women representation within its structures and broader society. 

“In line with our position to National Policy Conference, we still affirm our stand in support of equal gender representation in the officials positions. We have resolved, as the PTT to support three names of women to form part of the officials.” 

The league is expected to have a dialogue on Economic Transformation with the party NEC member Mamoloko Kubayion the 26 August at grassland Hall at 11:00.
