ANC NORTH WEST

By Thys Khiba – The African National Congress (ANC) North West IPC spokesperson Kenny Morolong is confident that they are going to host a resounding success and incident free elective conference set to get under way in Rustenburg today.

This comes after several attempts by party Interim Provincial Committee (IPC) to host the elective conference. The party has postponed the conference several times since the July deadline set down by the national office of the ANC.

“Well, we are confident that we will not only have a conference that is incident free…we will also have a conference that is a resounding success,” said Morolong.

Morolong confirmed that the processes of registration have commenced and party branches are expected to register in the afternoon.

Speaking to Free State Central News about legal threats to interdict the conference, Morolong indicated that they don’twant to predict that they’ll be a legal challenge against the IPC.

However, Morolong indicated that there is an attempt to interdict the voting status of the IPC and this is a matter that has been defended by the IPC.

“We do not want just to defend the participation of the IPC. We want to defend the credibility of conference,” said Morolong.

The party IPC is expecting its deputy president David Mabuza to deliver an opening address which will speak about the message of renewal of the ANC and making sure that the party is grounded.

Delegates are expected to elect a new leadership from six known and other candidates who have already indicated their intention to run for leadership.

The pronounced list includes former premier Supra Mahumapelo, current premier Bushy Maape, IPC Hlomane Chauke, former MEC Nono Maloyi, finance MEC Motlalepula Rosho, safety MEC Sello Lehari and Economic Development MEC Kenetswe Mosenogi.
