Man arrested for window breaking incident at Constitutional Court

By Thys Khiba – A man accused of killing a grade 10 learner from Gelkusdal high school, Ameeruddin Dino Prince will remain in the police custody after abandoning his bail application at Tsakani Magistrates’ Court.

The 31-year-old man is facing a charge of murder for killing a 17-year-old boy, Shaun Mphela.
The accused was arrested on the same day of the incident for allegedly stabbing Mphela.

With the assistance of Gauteng community members, police officers managed to arrest the accused.

The matter was adjourned at Tsakani Magistrate’s Court to 24 March 2023, for a transfer to the regional court.

It is alleged that on 02 February 2023, a learner who is a relative of the accused, pepper sprayed a group of learners during break time at school,” said Gauteng NPA spokesperson Lumka Mahanjana.

Reports confirm that a group of learners allegedly had a fight with the pupil who pepper sprayed them after school.

Mphela was amongst those learners who allegedly involved in a fight.

“It is alleged that the family was informed about the fight, and at that point, it is alleged that the accused came and stabbed the deceased, and he died on the scene.”
