Al Ahly confirms Percy Tau’s Signing Is not the Last

Johannesburg – Al Ahly SC Director of Marketing and Transfers, Amir Tawfik confirmed that the signing of Percy Tau will not be the club’s last signing of this transfer market. 

This follows the signing of the South African winger from Premier League club Brighton & Hove Albion, Tau, who is expected to be with the club for the next four years.

With Brighton, Tau made just six appearances, assisting once in the Premier League while featuring against the likes of Manchester City and Leicester City.

Valued at €3 million, according to Transfermarkt, Tau will become Al Ahly’s most valuable player and will join Ramadan Sobhi as the most valued player in Egypt.

Tawfik said that the club is in negotiations to sign more players, according to the coaching staff’s vision.

Tau has reunited with his South African coach, Pitso Mosimanewho is now the head coach for the Egyptian club Al Ahly SC.He became one of South Africa’s biggest stars under Al Ahlycoach Pitso Mosimane at Mamelodi Sundowns, which earned him a move to the Premier League in 2018.

Since Mosimane had previously hinted that he will be bringing a player from South Africa to Al Ahly’s ranks, the 27-year-old Tau has been a target for the Reds. 

Tau becomes the second-ever South African player to wear the Al Ahly shirt after Phakamani Mahlambi and the third in Egypt overall after Gift Links.

Tau won’t be part for the Al Ahly’s squad for their Friday match as they face Aswan in the final fixture of the Egyptian Premier League.
