Funzi Ngobeni
Johannesburg – ActionSA has declared Funzi Ngobeni as their premier candidate for the upcoming 2024 national and provincial elections. The announcement was made amidst palpable excitement in Newtown, Johannesburg, as ActionSA leader Herman Mashaba presented Ngobeni as their champion to reshape the province’s future.
Delighted with the nomination, Ngobeni took to social media, saying, “I am delighted to have been announced as the @Action4SA Premier Candidate for Gauteng. The people of the province deserve a government & Premier that will lead it to an upward economic trajectory.”
With a focus on rejuvenating the local economy, Ngobeni detailed his early goals once in office, promising to undertake a critical audit of Gauteng’s forgotten industrial spaces and residential buildings. “In my first 100 days in government, I will commission a province-wide audit of old factories and dilapidated residential buildings. These properties carry enormous economic potential!” he stated.
In a message showcasing his commitment to addressing economic stagnation, the Gauteng Premier Candidate @Funzi_Ngobeni outlined ambitious plans to drive economic activity and job creation by taking back and revitalizing abandoned and illegally occupied properties throughout the province.
Embracing the challenge that lies ahead, Ngobeni spoke of the honor and responsibility imbued in his new role, pledging to lead with excellence. “Leading ActionSA into its first Gauteng provincial election is an honour and a challenge that I intend to acquit with distinction,” he declared, embracing the nomination as ActionSA’s Premier Candidate for Gauteng.
ActionSA leader Herman Mashaba supported this sentiment by highlighting the implications for South Africa as a whole, stating, “If we can take action in Gauteng to remove the ruling party, it is possible for us to take action to remove the ruling party nationwide. Because only ACTION can fix South Africa.”
Laying out the stakes for the economic hub of the nation, Mashaba asserted, “After 30 years of failed ANC rule, our Gauteng Premier Candidate will implement practical plans to fix the economic hub of this country. He will finally give our people a better life!” as he took to the podium to announce their Premier Candidate for Gauteng.
With the election date set for May 29 as announced by President Cyril Ramaphosa, Ngobeni steps into the ring with formidable opponents, including the ANC’s current Premier Panyaza Lesufi, the DA’s Solly Msimanga, the EFF’s Mbuyiseni Ndlozi and Vuyiswa Ramokgopa of Rise Mzansi.
Ngobeni, a founding member of ActionSA, brings to the table extensive experience in public service and party development, having been integral in achieving the party’s outcomes in the 2021 elections due to his stewardship in establishing ActionSA’s structures nationwide.
His accolades boast a history of public service in the City of Johannesburg as the former MMC of Transport, Finance, and Development Planning. He also holds a Postgraduate Diploma in Public Management from Regenesys School of Public Management and is currently pursuing a Master’s Degree in Public Management at the same institution
