The investigation involves the hiring process for the Director of Fiscal Policy position at the Department.
The officials are directed to appear before the Public Service Commission (the PSC) personally at Third Floor, Fedsure Building, 62 St Andrew Street, Bloemfontein, on the 28th day of July 2023.
The PSC has requested the implicated members of the recruitment processes to provide reasons for their failure to attend the commission’s hearings.
The commission also seeks clarity on the lack of attendance despite numerous correspondences sent to the Department.
Additionally, the officials are expected to provide any relevant information or documents related to the complaint under investigation.
It is alleged that Sesing instructed the recruitment committee to defy the PSC’s commission and refrain from attending any hearings.
Sesing is facing charges of meddling in the recruitment processes.
In a previous report, Sunday World highlighted that the PSC had alerted Free State Premier, Mxolisi Dukwana in April regarding concerns about Sesing’s alleged violations of human resources recruitment processes.
According to the paper, Dr Henk Boshoff from the commission, whose statement has been reviewed by Sunday World, confirmed that they had indeed received a complaint from a whistleblower on April 3. The complaint accused Sesing of interfering in the recruitment process and allegedly making decisions on the appointment of the director of fiscal policy.
It is alleged that Sesing colluded with CFO Adri Botes to influence the hiring decision.
