By Thys Khiba – Three males are dead and two others were injured in a shooting incident at the entrance of a Guesthouse situated in Govan Mbeki Street on Sunday, 02 April.
This comes after 14 people who are between the ages of 18 and 23; 6 males and 8 females who were driving in the Ford Ranger and were supposed to drop one of the males at the Guesthouse were shot by an unknown suspect.
Police in Thaba Nchu were informed by a security officer about the incident.
“While waiting by the gate a White Volkswagen Polo stopped behind the Ford Ranger and one male wearing a White top and headdress jumped off.
“The suspect started shooting at the victims sitting at the back and thereafter fled the scene,” said Free State Police spokesperson, Lt Col Thabo Covane.
A SAPS patrol vehicle was despatched to attend to the scene and was told that the injured persons were rushed to the local hospital.
Covan indicated on arrival at the hospital, police found three males lying motionless at the back of a White Ford Ranger with gunshot wounds.
Two other victims were already admitted at the hospital.
A Murder docket with three counts and other attempted murder cases were opened at Thaba Nchu Police Station.
Several 9mm cartridges were collected as evidence from the scene.
Police are looking for the responsible suspect (s) after the shooting incident.
