Winburg – A 28-year-old man and two suspects have been arrested from Winburg for allegedly killing his girlfriend by after slitting her throat, officials confirmed on Thursday.
This is after an incident on the 13 May 2021 at about 13:00 when the suspect went to report a hijacking incident at Winburg South African Police Service (SAPS).
According to the SAPS Spokesperson, Brigadier Motantsi Makhele, the alleged that he was attacked by two men alongside the road about 4km from Winburg to Senekal, where he was driving with his girlfriend and and baby boy, and they drove off with his girlfriend.
Later on the body of 24 years old Nnini Pule from Hennenman was found inside the boyfriend’s vehicle with her throat slit.
“After thorough investigation by Detective Warrant Officer Dingtekane Mothibi of Winburg Detective Services, two suspects, Mojaki Phara 24 and Sebongile Soul 26 were arrested on the 14 August 2021 in Theunissen and appeared in the Winburg Magistrate Court on the 16 August 2021 and their case was postponed to the 20 August 2021 to seek and consult with Legal Aid lawyers,” Brigadier Makhele explains.
Further investigation led to the arrest of the deceased boyfriend today the 19 August 2021 at his parents’ home at Phomolong Hennenman.
The suspect is expected to appear in Winburg Magistrate Court tomorrow the 20 August 2021 with the other two accomplices.
The Provincial Commissioner, Lieutenant General Baile Motswenyane welcomed the arrest and appreciated the diligent work of the investigating officer in uncovering the truth behind the senseless killing of a bright young woman.
