Free State Hospitals delivered 19 babies on Christmas Day by 6am this morning .
Free State MEC for Health Montsheng Tsiu visited MUCPP and the maternity ward at Pelonomi Regional Hospital this morning to welcome the newly-born babies and celebrate with the mothers, as well as to hand over baby care packages.
“Babies born on Christmas day always have a very special place in our celebrations on the day. Maternity wards in the Free State reported that 19 babies were born by 06:00 this morning (13 Males and 6 females)” , said Department in a Statement.
The National District Hospital in Bloemfontein delivered the first Christmas baby, a baby girl at 00:04 to Ofentse Letutu from Bloemfontein weighing 3,010kg. Lehakwoe Makhabe, 3.1kg (female) was born at 00:43 to mother Judy Makhabe at MUCPP, in Bloemfontein and Lerato Masakala from Thabong in Welkom delivered her son, weighing 2,740kg at Bongani Regional Hospital at 00:50.
