10 Reasons why I think Cyril RAMAPHOSA must never return as the President of the ANC and of the Republic!!!!!

By Thys Khiba - The unexpected power outage forced the African National Congress (ANC) president Cyril Ramaphosa to cut his address short as he was about to conclude his 45-minutes-long speech at the ANC’s 110th birthday gala dinner on Friday night in Polokwane.

Opinion by Kamohelo Teele– I am of the the view that the incumbent is the worst President of the ANC and subsequently of the Republic post 1994. When he came in, he came in under the disguise of correcting the mistakes of his predecessor yet the status quo remains the same.

10 Reasons why I think Cyril RAMAPHOSA must never return as the President of the ANC and of the Republic!!!!!

  1. The President as the Head of state and of the executive in terms of the constitution has singlehandedly destroyed textile industry which created numerous jobs for black people by opening up the country for cheap products from China and destroying local job market in the process.
  2. He has ultimately failed to build confidence and capacity in state institutions. The collapse and imminent privatization of state owned Enterprises like Eskom and SAA is a classical Example. Forget about media narrative, look at the facts at hand.
  3. Our country has become an institution of human trafficking, drug trafficking and forced prostitution capital in the Continent because of the constant failures of the executive. He fails to take decisive action and release Police Minister from his responsibilities because he places factional interests ahead of the interests and collective wills of our people.
  4. He has effectively failed to create sustainable ways to empower and create jobs for young people, majority of which are languishing in the townships and have resorted to drugs and nyaope. More than 70% Youth Unemployment of which 55% are graduates. R350 Grant allocation perpetuates nothing but slavery in a democratic state.
  5. He has effectively failed to implement Nasrec conference resolutions. Nationalization of the reserve bank, land expropriation and not limited to free quality decolonize higher education which continues to result in student debts and heightened academic exclusions, particularly in the so called Ivy league institutions of higher learning. These resolutions are important because by virtue of being the President, he is deployed by the ANC and should implement party decisions.
  6. He has centralized power in the Presidency and duplicated majority of Executive functions, which days he doesn’t have confidence in some Leaders in the Executive. This is visible in numerous appointments of boards, panels, commissions, advisors and task teams for the work that should be done by government and wasting state resources in the process.
  7. He has effectively privatized investigations and prosecutions of crimes to deal with his political opponents. State institutions are used to weaponize his internal and external political opponents. He uses Senior Leaders belonging to his faction to ostracize and obliterate his opponents and do everything possible to deviate from accountability for his political dismeamours. A classical Example in this case is ANC MP Mervyn Dirks who has since been suspended by the party after he called on the Standing Committee on Public Accounts (Scopa) to haul President Cyril Ramaphosa over the coals for his remarks in the national executive committee on the abuse of public funds.
Mervin Dirks had written to Scopa to ask it to bring Ramaphosa before it to answer questions on state funds used for political campaign towards ANC 54th Elective Conference in Nasrec. This has inculcated a culture of fear within the ANC and the entire political landscape that anyone who speaks against the status quo shall be dealt with through instutional processes. A clear abuse of Power, violation of founding preamble amd provisions of the constitution, bill of rights and undermining of hard fought gains of National Democratic Revolution.
  8. Under his Presidency we have seen the capture of the judiciary. Judges and key role players in the Judiciary playing too much in the political gallery. We have seen in numerous cases judges departing from ordinary proceedings in terms of the rule of law, pattern of bias in cases of those not favoured by the rulling faction and subsequently the rulling class. Some even had their cases dismissed with costs to leverage political expediency. What about the doctrine of separation of powers (Judiciary, Legislature and the Executive). Lastly, when he abused his Constitutional prerogative and appointed Zondo against the recommendations of JSC and other political parties. Lack of confidence in female leadership in the Judiciary.
  9. Persons with Disabilities continues to experience heightened stigma, discrimination, social and economic exclusion. The President and his cabinet have failed to implement White Paper on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (2015) adopted by the Previous administration. Secondly, the failure of the Legislative Arm of the state to have Disability Act in place to cater the aspirations of vulnerable sectors of our society.
  10. He is a dictator, a tyrant and ruthless despot who would do anything to sustain power and political hegemony. In fact, he is not there for the people but for himself. He is building a private business empire that will sustain him post Presidency.

As for those saying he must get 2nd term they must know that:

“A second term of capitalism. A second term of mass unemployment. A second term mass retrenchments. A second term of privatisation. A second term of mass student financial exclusions. A second term of privatisation. A second term of inequality. A second term of 4 million people owning wealth equating to 40 million hungry stomachs” – Kamvelihle Goba
